THE VEHBI KOÇ AND ANKARA RESEARCH CENTER (VEKAM)

The Vehbi Koç and Ankara Research Center (VEKAM) is situated in the vineyard house belonging to Vehbi Koç in Keçiören, one of the last remaining vineyard houses in the city. The vineyard house, purchased from Field Marshal Fevzi Çakmak in 1923 was used for many years as the Koç family’s summer residence. The house where Vehbi Koç spent many of his years in Ankara at and where his children were born is a First Degree Cultural Heritage. The center  which was renovated in 1992 – 1993 centralised to the Vehbi Koç Foundation and inaugurated in 1994 with the aim of making scientific researches on Vehbi Koç, Ankara and it’s environs and to provide service to public by  compiling all kind of information and document on Ankara and Vehbi Koç.

Mission

Upon Vehbi Koç’s principles of patriotism, modernism, productivity, efficiency, quality, creativity and success;

The center is focused mainly on to bring together visual and textual documents on Vehbi Koç and  Ankara by classifying these documents convinient to scientific methods and techniques of information and document management and to put into service of researchers. VEKAM contributes to scientific researches ,embraces and supports research of high-​quality which reveal new data on Ankara  and its environs. The center aims to become the first source of reference for all researchers on Ankara in the world.

Vision

To become the primary reference center for researches on Vehbi Koç , Ankara and its environs and take part between the esteemed research centers by its researches and projects on urban studies.
